Kohinoor (Sari Weft Silk)
Fibre Content: 100% Silk
Yardage:80m per 100g
MetricCount: 1′s NM
YarnWeight: Chunky
This is a new style of Sari Silk. It is made from leftover, unused sari weft threads. They are colour picked then Handspun using a wheel (Gandhi Charkha) to produce a smooth & lustrous yarn.
The vibrant colors and unique texture of Sari Silk yarn is well know, however making yarn from weft threads takes this concept to the next level in terms of usability and feel.
Suggested needle size: As the skeins are variable, I’d sugest from 5 – 7mm. YMMV.
Each skein in unique in its random jewel-like colours, however, they all usually have one predominant colour, and there are many skein twins” to be had (That’s part of the fun when you order this yarn!).
Therefore, please note in the personalisation box below from what colour family you would like your skein(s) chosen if you have a preference.
(If you cannot see the personalisation box, please click on the yarn name above to go to the dedicated page for this product)
We hold stocks of this in the UK, so your order will be processed and dispatched first class within 3 working days. As always, shipping is included in the price.
As well as Knitting or Crochet, these are also great for Embroiderers to use, as there is usually a great range of colour per skein, the threads are very long and so it is a very economical way to acquire embroidery silks!
After-care of your garments: Hand wash in cool water and dry flat. Cool iron if required. You can also get them hand dry cleaned.
Recycled Sari Silk – Multicolour
Fibre Content: 100% Silk
Yardage: 90m per 100g
MetricCount: 1′s NM
YarnWeight: Fisherman/Aran
This Takli (Drop Spindle) spun Recycled SariSilk yarn is lustrous and buttery. It is hand-spun in India and manufactured from long length fibres. This ensures a smooth finish and a non splitting yarn.
There is tight spin on these skeins, and the fibre colours overlap at about 3cm distances, which creates bands of double-colour all down the yarn. This is a smooth yarn.
The vibrant colours and unique texture of these silk yarns are inspirational to designers, knitters, and artisans.
Suggested needle size: Anything from a 4mm to an 8mm, depending on the effect you want! YMMV

I hold UK stock, so your yarn will be shipped within 2 working days after payment clearance.
Please note that when they arrive, these yarns smell of “India” – Patchouli, spice and musty humidity. This smell fades over time in your stash, (I must admit, I rather like it, but it is not to everyone’s taste!) They also benefit from a “wash and set” before use, as this will fluff and relax the fibres. After-care of your garments is Hand washing in cool water and dry flat. You can also get them hand dry cleaned
